One high-flying North East student may have her eyes set on Downing Street one day as she collects her A-Level results.

Scarlett, who attended Carmel College Sixth Form, in Darlington, hopes her offer from Oxford University to study English and History will help launch her into a career in politics.

As well as achieving A*s for English Literature and her Extended Project Qualification, a B in Religious Education, and an A in History, Scarlett also played an active role in the college’s public speaking and politics clubs.

As well as visiting Parliament during her time at the college, she already has had a a taste of public service by working alongside senior policy officials at Darlington Economic Campus.

However, after collecting her results today, Scarlett must now choose between attending Oxford, and accepting a top-level apprenticeship with the Civil Service.
