Further Success for EM6 as Students Pursue Politics and Music Ambitions
Aspiring politicians and a talented musician were among the students celebrating their A-Level success at The English Martyrs Sixth Form College (EM6). Friends Sam B and Sam C have both combined their studies with active roles in local politics and are now set to take the next step towards careers in public service. Also celebrating was talented musician and Deputy Head Student Bridget, who achieved an A* in French and As in Music and English Literature.

Imogen not only finished her Maths A-Level in 2025 – a year early and earning a top A* grade – but today also secured an A* in Further Maths and an A in Chemistry at the Bishop Auckland school.

A teenager who fled to the UK from Ukraine has excelled in her A-levels and now wants to work towards a career helping people back in her home country. Anastasiia, who studied at The English Martyrs Sixth Form College (EM6), in Hartlepool, achieved an A* in Russian, an A in Psychology, and a B in Sociology. She said how she was “so happy” to break the good news in a call to her father, Andrew, who is fighting in the Ukrainian army.

A high-achieving student has turned down an offer from one of the UK’s leading universities in favour of staying in the North East and making an impact where he grew up. Despite receiving an offer from the University of Cambridge, Civ has instead opted to stay close to home and study Medicine at Newcastle University after being inspired by one of his teachers at The English Martyrs Sixth Form College (EM6), in Hartlepool.

Carmel Sixth Form students and staff have completed an inspiring and transformative mission to Peru as part of Project Peru 2026. Travelling from the UK to the Amazonian city of Iquitos via São Paulo and Lima, the group embarked on an unforgettable journey centred on service, faith, cultural exchange and personal development. Over the course of the trip, students embraced opportunities to support local communities, experience a new culture and live out the values at the heart of Catholic education.
