Balancing her studies at St John’s Catholic School and Sixth Form College, in Bishop Auckland, with her training as part of the England Acrobatic Gymnastic Squad presented challenges, but Hannah’s dedication and determination won through.

A-Level Results Day 2026 - EM6: Top student turns down Cambridge to make a difference in the North East

A high-achieving student has turned down an offer from one of the UK’s leading universities in favour of staying in the North East and making an impact where he grew up. Despite receiving an offer from the University of Cambridge, Civ has instead opted to stay close to home and study Medicine at Newcastle University after being inspired by one of his teachers at The English Martyrs Sixth Form College (EM6), in Hartlepool.
