Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust is a family of schools consisting of 30 Catholic primaries and 5 secondaries, serving the communities of Darlington, County Durham, Stockton and Hartlepool.
The aim of Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust is to provide a practical and moral purpose to the furthering of education, giving strength and a collective responsibility for the educational welfare of pupils in our schools. Pupils are the centre of all decision making and Christ is at the heart of our moral purpose.
Our Trust shapes its collaboration through the fundamental principles of Catholic Social Teaching. School leaders work together for the common good, all pupils feel safe, welcomed and supported with every possible opportunity and staff benefit from a collective approach that respects and values professional agency.
A group of students from St John’s Catholic School in Bishop Auckland have returned from a truly unforgettable educational visit to Singapore, having taken part in an international learning experience funded through the UK Government’s Turing Scheme. The visit offered students the opportunity to broaden their global outlook, develop future‑ready skills, and engage with education, innovation, and culture on an international stage.
Students from The English Martyrs Catholic School in Hartlepool recently returned from an inspiring and educational visit to Berlin, funded through the Turing Scheme, the UK government’s international education programme.
We are proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of twenty‑three St John’s sixth form students who successfully completed their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition in summer 2025.

Our BHCET termly newsletter showcases the incredible achievements, events, and stories from across our Trust community.

We are proud to offer a wide range of enriching opportunities that go beyond the classroom. All children have access to exciting experiences such as trips abroad through the Turing Scheme, participation in athletic events, and engaging Modern Foreign Language days. We also encourage pupil voice through involvement in our Trust-wide Pupil Parliament, ensuring every child has the chance to develop new skills, build confidence, and create lasting memories.
