From aspiring politicians to future scientists and software engineers, students at Our Lady & St Bede Catholic Academy in Stockton-On-Tees are celebrating impressive GCSE results and looking ahead to exciting futures.

Among them is Tom, who hopes his exam success will one day help him shape the future of the North East.

As a young leader and Head of Student Culture at OLSB, Tom has already developed a passion for public service, spending his time at OLSB championing diversity and celebrating the people and cultures within the school community.

He celebrated with friends after achieving an exceptional set of results, including three Grade 9s and all remaining grades at Grade 8.

Tom will now move on to Stockton Sixth Form College to study History, Politics and Computer Science A-Levels, taking another step towards his ambition of working in Government. Immensely proud of his home region, he hopes to play a role in directing the future of the North East and contributing to its communities.

Also celebrating are twins Sophia and Matty, who may be leaving OLSB behind, but are not quite ready to be separated.

Having completed their secondary education together, both will move on to Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College in Darlington, although their chosen subjects reflect very different ambitions.

Sophia achieved passes in all her GCSEs at Grade 6 and above, with most grades at 7 and 8, and has set her sights on a future in politics or journalism. She plans to study Psychology, Law and Politics at A-Level.

Meanwhile, Matty's talent for numbers and computers saw him achieve GCSE results largely made up of Grades 6, 7 and 8. With aspirations of becoming a software engineer, he will study Computer Science, Maths and Spanish at A-Level.

Sophia and Matty are not the only twins celebrating.

Alice and William collected their GCSE results together before preparing to take their education journeys in different directions this September.

Alice achieved an outstanding set of results, with no grade lower than a 7, while William's results featured no grade lower than a 6.

With a particular talent for science, Alice will join Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College to study Chemistry, Physics and Maths. She hopes to continue her studies at university and pursue a degree in either Physics or Chemical Engineering, with ambitions of becoming a scientist or engineer.

William, meanwhile, has developed a keen interest in politics and public affairs. He plans to attend Bede College in Billingham, where he will study Law, Politics and Sociology as he begins working towards his own future career ambitions.

Together, Tom, Sophia, Matty, Alice and William highlight the ambition, talent and determination on display at OLSB this Results Day, with students pursuing futures in government, journalism, technology, science and engineering while taking the next exciting steps in their educational journeys.
