Students at Carmel College Sixth Form are celebrating a range of impressive achievements, with many now preparing to take the next step towards careers in engineering, healthcare and science.

Among them is Chilufya, whose passion for problem-solving and leadership has earned her a place to study Civil and Structural Engineering at the University of Manchester. Having completed A-Levels in Maths, Physics and Chemistry, Chilufya has already gained valuable industry experience through work placements with BT PLC and Arup Group. Alongside her academic success, she played a leading role in organising the college's Culture Day festival, helping to bring students together and celebrate the diverse backgrounds within the college community.

Fellow student Abigail is a step closer to fulfilling her lifelong ambition of becoming a vet. An animal lover with a keen interest in science, Abigail achieved A grades in Biology, Chemistry and Maths, as well as an A* in her Extended Project Qualification on xenotransplantation. She will now progress to study Veterinary Medicine and Surgery at the University of Nottingham.

Also celebrating is Kacey, whose determination and resilience have helped her overcome significant personal challenges. Having grown up in care, Kacey balanced her studies with two part-time jobs while also volunteering to support younger students within the college community. Her hard work has paid off with Distinctions in Health and Social Care and Childcare, and she is now preparing to study Nursing at Teesside University.

Meanwhile, Malek is embarking on an exciting journey towards a career in shipbuilding. After fleeing the war in Syria with his family and arriving in the UK in 2016, Malek learned English, thrived at Carmel College and became the first member of his family to progress to higher education. Following success in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Arabic, he will now study Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at Newcastle University.

Together, their stories highlight the ambition, resilience and talent of Carmel students as they prepare to make their mark in a wide range of professions.
