Pupils from our Darlington schools gathered for a meaningful and joy‑filled St Patrick’s Day celebration, bringing together schools, families, parishioners, and our wider faith community. The event offered a beautiful blend of prayer, reflection, and celebration, aligning closely with our Lenten journey and supporting our ongoing Live Simply actions.
A Morning of Prayer and Reflection
The day began with a reverent shared experience of the Stations of the Cross. Pupils from our Darlington schools took on important roles, offering thoughtful readings and participating with maturity and respect.
Their contribution added a deep sense of meaning to the morning’s reflections. The group then celebrated Holy Mass for the Feast of St Patrick at St Augustine’s. It was uplifting to see pupils and staff from multiple schools come together alongside parishioners, parents, grandparents, our adult SVP conference, and friends. This gathering truly reflected the unity and shared faith within our Trust community.
An Afternoon of Celebration and Community Spirit
Following the spiritual start to the day, the celebrations continued in the church hall with a lively St Patrick’s Day party. Pupils enjoyed Irish dancing, music, and the chance to socialise with peers from other schools and members of the parish community. The atmosphere was joyful, warm, and full of the spirit of the feast day.
Staff and visitors shared many positive comments about the children’s behaviour, participation, and respect throughout the event. Pupils represented their schools with pride and embraced the opportunity to connect, celebrate, and live out their values.
A Special Day to Remember
This St Patrick’s Day celebration offered a wonderful reminder of the strength of our Trust family. Through shared worship, fellowship, and joyful celebration, pupils engaged deeply with both the feast day and our Lenten focus.
Well done to all pupils involved — you were outstanding ambassadors for your schools and our Trust.
